Frequently Asked Questions
How Do I Submit a Document or Sample?
You can send your document as an email attachment. Your document should be typed in Times New Roman, size 12 font, and be double spaced. If you send a Microsoft Word file, I will edit using the track changes feature in Word and return the file to you. If you send a PDF file, I will edit using Adobe Acrobat.
I also accept documents in the mail for manual (redline) editing. If you prefer, I can print your electronic file (for an extra charge) and provide a hardcopy redlined document back to you. Please contact me for a mailing address.
Is My Job Too Big or Too Small?
For any document of one page or less, my basic rate is $10. A standard page includes 250 words. For larger jobs, my rates are per word. No job is too big or too small. I look forward to helping on whatever size project you have. Take a look at my home page for a list of document types I can help with. Do You Work with ESL Writers?
Yes. I have worked with many ESL speakers and writers from a variety of countries. If English is not your first language (and even if it is) I would be happy to work with you to make sure your ideas are presented clearly for your readers.
How Long Do You Take?
The timing of a job depends on the level of edit, the length of the document, and the original condition of the writing. If you have a deadline, tell me when you submit your document and I will strive to return it to you in time for you to review my work and incorporate the changes you choose into your final document. Once you provide a sample of your work, I will provide a firm quote for the job, including cost and expected completion date.
Will You Edit Documents Submitted for a Grade?
I will proofread and copyedit academic documents, as long as they are not for English or Writing classes. I will do comprehensive edits of academic documents with the permission of your professor/teacher.
Do You Follow a Specific Style Guide?
I am familiar with the Chicago Manual of Style, Scientific Style and Format (CBE/CSE Manual), APA, and Gregg Reference Manual. I can also work to other industry guides. If you have a specific house style guide for your company, school, or journal, I can work to it if you provide me a copy or link.
Is My Information Kept Private?
Yes. I will never share, sell, or otherwise distribute any contact information you provide me, nor will I share the content of your files without your permission.
What If I Have a Question Not Addressed Here?
